SOLDIERS AND NURSES OTAGO’S QUOTA 4000 PARCELS AT NINE SHILLINGS EACH The Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) announces that 45,000 Christmas gift parcels frorri the people of New. Zealand are to be forwarded to soldiers and nurses overseas. Otago’s share,of this quantity is 4000 parcels, to be forwarded during September. A parcel will reach each soldier and nurse in whatever area they may be serving. The cost of a comnlete parcel is 9s and will consist of the following:—One Christmas cake (llib net), one Christmas pudding (lib net), one tin sheep tongues, one tin coffee and milk, one. tin barley sugar, one cake soap, one tin of slab chocolate, one tin zambuk, one tin meat paste. Each of the foregoing articles will be enclosed in a sealed tin. Also the following:—One writing pad with envelopes, six packets of chewing gum, one skull cap or face cloth, one pair leather boot laces, one Christmas card (New ' Zealand scenes specially printed). Bulk buying alone enables this assortment to be purchased at the low cost of 9s.
Donors of the cost of one or more complete parcels are invited to supply with each 9s contributed, a card with their names and addresses. On the card may be written a message to the recipient. One card will be enclosed with each parcel, to the extent of the number contributed for. This may apply to organisations, as well as individual contributors. Donations on the basis of 9s per complete parcel will be received at the office of the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council. Municipal Buildings. Dunedin, though contributions of small amounts will also be welcome.
