SLEEPING SICKNESS

HEALTH OFFICER’S WARNING (Rec. 1.15 am.) SYDNEY, Aug. 26. A warning that an epidemic of encephalitis, otherwise sleeping sickness, might sweep Australia was issued to-day by the city health officer. Dr Graham Drew. He was commenting on a report that many cases of sleeping sickness had occurred in the United States and pointed out that it was only a matter of time when it would be spread by shipping to other parts of the world.
