CHARGE OF THEFT (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 2G. A charge of fraudulently failing to account for £7OB 6s 3d to the Canterbury United Order of Foresters, thereby committing theft, was preferred against William John Spratt, a land agent, aged 53 years, who appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. before*Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M. Spratt was remanded until September 15. He was admitted to bail in his own recognisance of £IOOO. with two securities of £IOOO. “ I believe there arc several thousands of pounds involved in this case.” said Detective Sergeant J. McClung, applying for a remand. “It will be about three weeks before we arc prepared to go on with the case.”
