ST. MATTHEW’S CHURCH

PARISHIONERS’ MEETING The annual meeting of the Parish of St. Matthew’s was held on Tuesday, the vicar, the Rev. W. A. Hamblett, presiding over a fair attendance of parishioners. The vicar reported that all the church organisations had been well maintained throughout the year, and he also complimented the church treasurer on being able to present a balance sheet showing credit balances in all accounts. There had been increased ' giving during the year, the total amount received being £1229. The vicar also mentioned that some 30 members had left for service overseas, two of whom had made the supreme sacrifice. . „ The election of officers for the ensuing vear resulted Vicar’s warden, Mr W J. ineram: people's warden. Mr G. G. Austin, vestrymen—Messrs W, Ellis, H. R. Geddes, S Gouriey, C. W. Hannah, T. W. Knight, D. Parsons, T. A. Tarrant, A. J. Taylor and W. A. Williamson, and Dr E. H. Williams; honorary auditor, Mr A. Cann°After the meeting a social hour was spent, during which the vocal solo The Stranger of Galilee” was rendered by Mrs T. A. Tarrant.
