CITY COUNCIL
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the City Council was held last night, the Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) presiding. There were also present—Crs. D. C. Cameron, R. Walls, J. McCrae,. J. Wilson, W. B. Taverner, J. W. Munro, M.P., M. C. Henderson, L. M. Wright, E. J. Smith. D. C. Jolly and L. J. T. Ireland, Wipers for Trams Cr Walls asked the chairman of the Transport Committee, Cr Henderson, whether anything had yet been done about providing tram windows with wipers. He had raised the question before, and considered it one of urgency. Motormen had considerable difficulty in seeing the line ahead m wet weather, and unless something were done there would be an acciCr Ireland supported Cr Walls’s remarks, and Cr Smith pointed out tne necessity for similar provision on the cable cars. Cr Henderson said the matter would be considered by the committee. Tender The tender of Messrs Richardson. McCabe and Co. for the supply and delivei’y of Australian hardwood poles for the Electricity Department was accepted in the sum of £1276 17s 2d.
