HERR HESS’S FLIGHT

TO THE EDITOR

Sir, —Everyone is wondering why Herr Hess left Germany and why he had to leave that country. I suggest that he left to avoid being “eaten by Hitler. Hitler was preparing to “ eat him,” because Hess has become more loved by the people of Germany than is Hitler. How could Hitler tolerate a successful rival? His demand is that Germans and all men shall love and worship him alone or be his slaves. Hitler’s behaviour is a flight from an inner personal anxiety. Totalitarians and Communists treat each other in success in the same way as they treated their opponents when they were climbing to power.—l am, € tc., Stuart Moore. Dunedin, May 13.
