Sir,—So the council is now trying to evade its responsibilities to the ratepayers by securing relief from the Hospital and Drainage Boards Cr Taverner, the mighty magician, finds it possible to announce a reduction m rates, but an increase of Id in the £ in the general rate. Why. if the Drainage and Hospital Board rates can be reduced bv Id in the, £ has the Citv Council rate to be increased to 2s 3d?—l am. etc.. Lower Rates.
