PENINSULA A. AND P. SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING Tile annual meeting of the Otago Peninsula A. and P. Society was held in the Coronation Hall. Portobello, on Friday. The chairman (Mr M. Geary) made reference to the several theatres of war in which New Zealanders were engaged, particularly the Middle East. He proposed a motion of sympathy with the relatives of the men killed, which was carried. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance' sheet, Mr Geary returned thanks to members and officials who, he said, had given him wholehearted support during his term of office. During the year the society had given donations to the farewell funds of seven patriotic sub-committees on the Peninsula and the society hoped that with the assistance of the iaublic it would be able to give further donations. 1 The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr R. W. Aitken; senior vice-president, Mr J. B. Black: junior vice-president, Mr J. D. McKay; honorary solicitor. Mr J. E. Brunton; honorary auditors. Messrs J. Hellyer and T. D Ross; committee—Messrs E. Y. Aitken, J. E. Brunton, J. Hellyer, C. Henderson, W. Hastie, W. Lamond, C. McAuley, b McCraw, K. McCutcheon, J. S. McKay, D Smith, D. Rutherford, L. Stuart, F. Watson, D. Young. J. C. Aitken, A. Braid, W. D Stewart, D. Tayior, J. J. McKendry and P. Hellyer. . The following were elected life members of the society: Messrs J. Seaton. R. Jury. D McKay, W. Cowan and A. Lewis. As the'society is in a better financial position than last year it was decided to revert to the full standard of prize money at the next show. After the close of business a very enjoyable dance was held, Mr J. Black acting as M.C.
