BURKES-ST. LEONARDS REGATTA A SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE Although the weather deteriorated during the afternoon, the moderate north-east wind bringing misty showers, the annual Burkes-St. Leonards Regatta, which was held on Saturday, was markedly successful, not only did the public support the fixture strongly, in spite of the dull and somewhat cheerless conditions, but the members of the various yachting and rowing clubs on the harbour were also present in force, with the result that all the events were keenly contested, the yachting and motor boat races bringing out large fleets. The conditions were excellent for the yachts, the full-sail breeze sending them round the course in good time, and although the water was on the choppy side, the rowing races were disposed of without mishap.
