Thursday, December 26 (Before Mr W. A. Scott, J.P., and Mr J. F. Himburg, J.P.) Drunkenness Edwin Alexander Guthrie, a statutory first offender for drunkenness, who had been in the cells for two days, was convicted and discharged.—Similarly charged a first offender was fined 10s' another was convicted and discharged, and a similar charge against a third was adjourned for 12 months. Remand Granted Benjamin Thomas Moore (Mr M. Joel) and Harold Eugene Matheson were charged with breaking and entering the premises of Blackford's Hairdressing Salon and stealing articles valued at £3 13s, the property of Jemima Isabella Sarney.—On the application of Senior Sergeant Vaughan, the accused were remanded until January 6 bail being allowed in their own recognisance of £IOO and one surety of £IOO in each case. They were ordered to report daily to the police. A Drunken Driver James Tweedie, a soldier, pleaded guilty to being intoxicated in charge of a motor car.—Senior Sergeant Vaughan said the defendant was stopped by a traffic inspector in King street on Christmas Eve. He was drunk. The defendant was on final leave, and was due back at Trentham on January 6.—The case was adjourned for one month. They refused to make a statement, and further inquiries would have to be made.—The accused were remanded until January 6. bail being allowed in their own recognisance of £IOO in each case. They were ordered to report daily to the bolice.
