EXTRA GRANT SOUGHT MONEY FQR CHRISTMAS (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON. Dec. 5. A request that the Minister of Finance, Mr W. Nash should grant permission for friends, relatives, and other persons in New Zealand to send to each member of the Expeditionary Force overseas the sum of £5 for Christmas was contained in an urgent question asked by Mr W P. Endean (Opposition. Rem'uera) in the House of Representatives to-day. He recalled that it was permitted to send £2O overseas to each man in the course of' a year. Mr Nash said he was sorry that nothing could be done in the meantime He promised, however, to give the matter further consideration, and said that if the necessary funds became available he would recommend some alteration later.
