HALL DESTROYED
FIRE AT TUATAPERE TWO SHOPS ALSO GUTTED (Feb United Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Oct. 17. Lawson’s Hall, at Tuatapere. which was used for pictures and dances, was ccmpletely destroyed by lire early this morning. Only the brick walls were left standing. Two shops ip. the front were also gutted. One was occupied by Miss Hannan (fruit and confectionery), and the other was empty. An adjoining shop occupied by Mrs Duncan was saved by the good werk of a bucket brigade, though the building was badly scorched. The insurances on the ball were:— Commercial Union, £2800; State Office. £I2OO. The fittings were insured in the State Office for £2lO. Miss Hannan’s stock was insured in the State Office for £l5O, and Mrs Duncan's stock in the same office for £3OO
