THE SESSION
WAR FINANCE MEASURES DEBATE ON COMPULSORY LOAN EXPECTED (Special to Daily Times) WELLINGTON, Sept. 30. The adjourned session of Parliament will be resumed to-morrow and it is intended that the House of Representatives, after formal business and the passing of a resolution of condolence in connection with the death of Mr A. E. Jull, the former member for Waipawa, will adjourn until Wednesday as a mark of respect to his memory. There is now no certainty that members will desire a secret session on this occasion as the Opposition is represented in the War Cabinet, while the Government holds frequent caucus meetings to discuss all phases of the war effort. Apart from the Excess Profits Bill, which will probably make its appearance on Wednesday, the legislative programme is unimportant and the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, is of the opinion that the House will adjourn by the end of next week. • As a promise w r as given by the Prime Minister when the House was last in session that an opportunity would be given to discuss the compulsory loan, it is possible that this and other phases of war finance can be discussed when the Excess Profits Bill is before the House. It is the present intention of the House, when the current business is completed, to meet again in November and there is a possibility that a subsequent adjournment will be taken until after the holiday season unless an emergency arises.
