The'total amount of subscriptions to the New,Zealand Herald Readers’ Aeroplane Fund. £33,872. has been remitted to the Secretary of:the Treasury, and the Prime Minister' has been asked to send the money to' Lord Beaverbrook. the Minister of Aircraft Production in Great, Britain. .>V v The following cablegram was sent to Lord Beaverbrook:—New Zealand Herald readers within three weeks subscribed over £33,000, which w e have requested the Prime Minister to remit to you for the purchase of aeroplanes-. Sir Henry Horton managing director of Messrs Wilson and Horton, Ltd., ,to the Prime Minister says; “We believe the amount of the Herald Readers’ Fund will pay for five fighter aeroplanes. Will you please suggest to Lord Beaverbrook that the aeroplanes be named Auckland I. Auckland 11. The Westland County Council decided at a meeting yesterday afternoon as a mark of appreciation of New Zealand airmen’s service in the defence of Britain, to contribute £250 to the New Zealand Aeroplane Fund, for the use of the Dominion Squadron on service. ’’ f
