OBITUARY

MR H. A. BULLOCK Mr Herbert Alfred Bullock, a North Otago pioneer, died recently. Born at Camblesforth, Yorkshire, he came out to New Zealand in the sailing shin Coromandel, arriving at .Lyttelton in the late seventies. He went to Oamaru and soon found employment with the late Mr John Reid, of Elderslie. After a few years he took a trip home to England. For a short time he was farming at Tapui, and during the Great War he carried on a taxi business in Oamaru. Since 1924 he had been farming on the Elderslie Settlement on his own account. Mr Bullock was a keen- sportsman. In his earlier days he took an active interest in cricket, boxing and horse racing in particular. He was married to Miss Isabella Gordon, of Inverness. Scotland, by whom he is survived.
