WEDDINGS
O’Leary—Fogarty : A picturesque wedding took place at St. Patrick's Basilica on Saturday last, the bridegroom being Norman Jerard, son of the late Mr and Mrs John O’Leary, Riverton, and the bride, Margarete Elizabeth, second daughter of Mr and Mrs T. C. Fogarty, of South Dunedin. The Rev. Father Fahey performed the ceremony after which nuptial mass was celebrated. The bride wore a lovely frock of magnolia satin simply cut and ending in a long train. At the neckline was a spray of orange blossom, while a tulle veil hung from a coronet of pearl orange blossom. A sheaf of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern wa s carried. Misses Doris Chave and Kathleen Fogarty (sister of the bride) wore bridesmaids frocks of hyacinth blue lace with godets of net frills and blue picture hats trimmed with satin bows. They carried sheaves of chrysanthemums 'and fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Leslie Lemon as, best man. Mr John Fogarty was groomsman, and Messrs T.. Fogarty and H. Chave acted as ushers. During the. ceremony two • solos were rendered by Miss D. Schmelz. Later a reception was held at the Security Hall, the guests being received by Mrs Fogarty (mother of the bride), who wore a frock of panel silk Lorraine with navy ensemble coat. Mrs D. Whelan, who assisted her, wore a floral frock with fur-trimmed rust’coat and brown accessories. When Mr and Mrs O’Leary left for the north the bride was wearing a clover coat trimmed with brown fur. Carson —Taylor At St. Saviour’s Church, Sydenham, Christchurch, on Saturday, June 8, was solemnised the marriage of Ivan Francis, younger son of Mr and Mrs W Carson, of Lyttelton, and Alma Emily, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J. H. Taylor. 0 f Regent street, Christchurch. The Rev. E. A. Osmars officiated. The bride wore a gown of ivory patterned silk net designed on early Victorian lines. The floral veil was held in place by a halo of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of spring flowers. She was attended by Miss Myra Scott, of Balclutha. who wore a shell pink lace and satin frock, and carried a bouquet in matching tones. Miss Edith Taylor attended her sister as flower girl, and she was attired in an early Victorian frock of blue taffeta, with a Juliet cap. Her posy was of pink flowers. Mr Ron Taylor, of Dunedin, acted as best man. At a reception in the Buckingham Bowling Hall the guests were welcomed by the bride’s mother, who wore black marquisette over cyclamen and carried a posy of cyclamen flowers. The bridegroom’s mother was attired in an ensemble in teal blue, with hat to match, and she carried a posy to tone. A dance at which about 100 guests attended followed (he reception.
