■ -- BRIGHT DISPLAYS BY COLTS NORTH OTAGO’S BIG SCORE ANOTHER CENTURY TO D. MadNTYRE Some bright cricket was seen at Carisbrook on Saturday when, in almost ideal conditions, players under 21 years of age from Otago and North Otago commenced a two-days’ match, in which the honours at present rest

with the visiting colts, who compiled 324 runs and , dismissed five home batsmen for 175 runs. A feature of North Otago’s display was a spectacular century by D. MacIntyre. who has been a consistent high scou r this season. Although he offered a hard chance at nine, he gave another wise unblemished display in making 118 runs in 105 minutes. He was never troubled by the bowling, and hit two sixes and 19 fours. He and Kelk added 149 runs while they were associated, and Kelk scored a solid 82 runs, which included 12 fours. J. Robertson and J. McKone both contributed valuable innings. B. Walsh and G. Stanley captured three wickets apiece for Otago, whose fielding was good. Otago started its reply to the visitors’ big score very confidently, and after L. C. Baker had been dismissed for .16 runs, R. T. Hunt and G. Tobin went for the bowling and added 64 runs for the second wicket. Hunt gave a good display for 55 runs. He went for the runs, and in his scoi’e were eight fours.
