Tragedy overtook a fishing excursion to Port Underwood early yesterday morning, When Ernest Robin Palmer, aged 55, married/ of Christchurch, is presumed to have been lost overboard while a launch, with a party of about, 20 men on board, was proceeding down the Opawa river. The launch left Blenheim at 2 am. Less than an hour later, when nearly everyone aboard - was asleep, the owner (Mr Tim Daken), who was at the helm, heard a splash. He gave the alarm and a check up revealed that Palmer was missing. The launch turned back and a twohour search was made from a dinghy without success.
