CHEMISTS' CONFERENCE

MEETING IN WELLINGTON (Special to Daily Times) WELLINGTON, Jan. 24. The annual conference of the New Zealand section of the Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland and of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry will be held in Wellington at the end of this week. The membership of the institutes is composed of persons who are interested in the welfare of chemists throughout New Zealand. These people are engaged throughout the Dominion as analysts, research chemists, consulting analytical chemists, industrial chemists, and in the teaching profession. The New Zealand Institute will be presided over by Dr Roy Gardner, of Dunedin, and Mr R. L. Andrew, assistant Dominion analyst, will be in the chair for the New Zealand section. The conference programme includes on Friday presidential addresses by Dr Gardner and by Mr Andrew. Mr H. F. Harvey will give a paper on pharmaceutical industry. On Saturday morning there will be a paper on " The Metal Industry" by Mr R. M. Bruce, chief chemist to the Railway Workshops, and this will be followed by a symposium, at which Dr F. J. Filmer, Dr I. G. Cunningham, and Mr R. E. R. Grimmett will be the speakers.
