SCHOOL RESIDENCES
TEACHERS ON SERVICE OCCUPANCY BY WIVES (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 24. Decisions regarding ' the occupancy of residences by the wives of teachers on leave for duty with the military forces were conveyed to the Auckland Education Board to-day by the Director of Education. The director stated that the question had been raised of the liability of teachers for the rent of residences while on militarv service. If a teacher who had been provided with a residence joined the forces he was required to inform his employing board whether or not he wished to retain the use of the residence. If he elected to retain the use of the residence he was required to pay a rent determined under the regulations. . It was also stated that if a married teacher was appointed, while on leave with the forces to a position where a residence was provided, his wife was entitled to occuov the residence from the date which the employing board regarded as the date of the teachers appointment. If the wife occupied the residence she would be required to pay the usual rent.
