EMPIRE AIR PLAN
TRAINING OF PILOTS AERODROMES IN CANADA FIVE THOUSAND PLANES (United Press Association) ■ , (By Electric Telegraph-Copyright) NEW YORK, Oct. 30. (Received Oct. 31, at 7 p.m.) The Ottawa correspondent of th« New York Times says a conference at the week-end is expected to consider practical details of the training and the financing of the scheme. The training machines will be actual fighters, numbers, and reconnaissance planes. Apparently hopes of procuring machines with which to start 1 the scheme are pinned on the United States, and 1500 are likely to be ordered initially. The plan is expected to reach its peak in 12 to 18 months, ranking Canada as a major air Power, since it will have at least 5000 planes and 10,000 airmen operating 100 aerodromes. The correspondent adds: “ Thus the responsibility which the United States assumed when President Roosevelt guaranteed Canada against conquest has been lightened.” NEW ZEALAND MISSION DUE AT OTTAWA TO-MORROW OTTAWA, Oct, 30. The Australian Associated Press learns that the Australian air delegation will arrive on Wednesday, -probably accompanied by a financial officer from the New York Trade Commissioner’s office. The New Zealand mission will arrive on Thursday.
