Kaihiku. —Domestic servants are required to pay the social security tax of Is in the £ on wages, and, if they are being kept by the employer, an additional Is is payable, since keep is estimated as being worth £1 weekly. Thus a domestic servant who receives £1 2s 6d weekly and is kept must pay a tax of Is 2d if residing at home or 2s 2d if kept at the place of employment. J. F., Oamaru. —We have no information on the subject beyond that which is given in the organ of the Labour Party. The original intention was to publish a daily paper in each of the four principal centres. The response to the appeal for funds has not been sufficiently great to warrant any expectation that this intention can be fulfilled. Nor has it been sufficient yet to provide the means for the publication of a paper in any one centre. It is to be assumed that if the funds eventually warrant the publication of a daily paper anywhere Wellington will be the centre selected for that purpose.
