BOMBER CRASHES

AN AMERICAN MACHINE NINE PEOPLE KILLED TRAPPED IN THE CABIN t (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LANGLEY FIELD (Virginia), Aug. 11. Two officers and seven enlisted men were killed when ,an army twin-motored Douglas bomber crashed and was burned when taking off. Engine trouble is blamed. The plane rose from the field and dived suddenly, crashing from a height of 150 feet. It was enveloped in flames almost* immediately, thwarting all efforts to reach the men trapped in the cabin. The machine burned so fiercely that it was an hour before the bodies could be removed. A CRASH AT SAN DIEGO LOSS OF FOUR LIVES SAN DIEGO, Aug. 11. Four navy flyers were killed when a bomber burst into flames and crashed during gunnery exercises.
