AN EASY VICTORY

DOMINION BADMINTON TEAM MATCH AT NEWCASTLE . NEWCASTLE, Aug. 13. (Received Aug. 13, at 9 p.m.) The New Zealand bf/lminton team easily defeated Newcastle, which was virtually a New South Wales team, on Saturday night. The visitors won by 10 games and 213 aces to no games 60 aces. The crowd was ■ estimated at 500. The New Zealanders played excellently. Following are the scores:— Men's Doubles E. Roussell and J. Mrs Quinlan and Miss McCormack 6. Miss N. Fleming and Mrs Wren 21 v. Mrs Collins and Miss Ellrington 7. Women's Singles Miss N. Fleming 15 v. Mrs Quinlan 0. Men's Singles E. Roussell 21 v. W. Rodgers 5. Mixed Doubles J. Spedding and Mrs Wren 20 v. J. Buchanan and Mrs Quinlan 6. E. Roussell and Miss N. Fleming 21 v. E. Wells and Miss McCormack 12. D. Spedding and Mrs Wren 21 v. K. Gray and Miss Ellrington 4. E. Roussell and Miss N. Fleming 21 v. W. Rodgers and Mrs Collins 12. In an exhibition match E. Roussell and Miss Fleming beat J. Spedding and Mrs Wren 15—7, 13—18, 15—8. MATCH AGAINST SYDNEY MISS KERR IN FORM SYDNEY, Aug. 13. (Received Aug. 13, at 9.30 p.m.) The New Zealand badminton team secured an overwhelming victory over a Sydney team. The results of the men's games were as follows: — G. Pearce (New Zealand) defeated J. Waugh (Sydney) 15—3, 15—5. Pearce defeated R. Whelan (Sydney) 15—1, 15—0. The results of the women's games were as follows:

Miss M. Kerr (New Zealand) defeated Miss Z. Campbell (Sydney) 11—0, U—2. Miss Kerr defeated Miss Gunton ll—o, 11—S. The result of the Mixed Doubles was as follows: Pearce and Miss Kerr defeated Whelan and Miss Gunton 15—3, l£i—lo. Miss Gunton is the New South Wales lady champion, so the strength of Miss Kerr's play is apparent. Pearce was easily superior in both his games.

After the match the New Zealanders showed the local players their weak points.
