LABOUR SHORTAGE
INQUIRIES FOR WORKERS INTEREST AROUSED IN CANADA (Per United Press Association; . AUCKLAND. Aug. 9. Widespread interest has been aroused in Canada by reports of the demand for workers in certain. classes of industries in New Zealand, and the steps that have been taken to recruit labour in Australia and Great Britain. From inquiries that have been received in New Zealand as a result it is clear that considerable numbers of workers in a variety of trades are anxious to come to this country from Canada, especially if they could be given assistance with their fares. \ A flood of inquiries has been received recently by Government departments and even by private individuals from Canadians anxious to know whether there is any scope, for their abilities in the Dominion. Upwards of a dozen letters were received by one Government department in Auckland in a single mail recently. Many of the inquirers have enclosed details of their qualifications. A wide variety, of trades and callings is represented in the applications.
