EAT MORE FRUIT

; FRUIT-GROWERS' SLOGAN ; PRACTISING WHAT THEY PREACH (Special to Daily Times) ,' WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The slogan "Eat more fruit," preached by fruit-growers, is also practised by them. It is the custom among, organisations when they meet in conference in Wellington to have an adjournment for morning tea, but not so the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Federation. The annual conference of this body was opened here to-day, and at 11 a.m. the delegates began to "eat more fruit." Mr J. Parker, well known as a former,New Zealand Rugby representative, was in charge of a whole case of nicely-wrapped pears. He ripped off the top of the box with great skill and the pears were quickly distributed, the box being emptied. There was no doubt about these delegates practising what they preach. This little custom of fruiteating is one that the conference has followed for years.
