FATALLY SCALDED
i DEATH OF AN INFANT BOILING WATER IN BATH Extensive scalding from boiling water resulted in the death at the Dunedin Hospital at 6.30 last evening of David Russell Ellis, an infant, aged one vear and a-halL whose parents reside at 17 Greenock street Kaikorai. The mother was bathine her child in a tub of warm water about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon and had gone into an adjacent.bui-'ding to fetch some clothes. While she was away. another' of her children, aged three years and a-auarter. climbed uo and turned on the hot tan of the bath At the sound of the running water the mother rushed in. applied ointment to the child's skin, and rolled it in a blanket. The child reached HosDital about 4.15 suffering from shock and burns caused by boiling water but failed to respond. to treatment, and died.
