BUS PROPRIETOR GUILTY RECOMMENDATION BY JURY (Per United Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 8. Guilty with a recommendation to mercy was the verdict returned by a jury in the Supreme Court at New Plymouth this afternoon at the conclusion of the trial of James George Williamson, a bus proprietor, who pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawfully using an instrument on a woman, Elvie Elsie Hendei-.on, with intent to procure a miscarriage. Williamson was remanded for sentence. The Crown Prosecutor (Mr R. H. Qulliam) said before the hearing began that he had no application to make for the suppression of the woman's name. After Crown evidence was given on the lines of that given in the Lower Court, the defence did not call evidence, and the jury made its decision in 80 minutes.
