THE PRIME MINISTER

MAKING EXCELLENT RECOVERY FIRST VISITOR YESTERDAY (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 8. The Prime Minister (Mr M. J. Savage), who is making an excellent recovery from his operation last Friday, received his first visitor to Lewisham Hospital to-day. This was the Acting Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser), who subsequently stated that he found Mr Savage cheerful and bright. Mr Fraser also visited the Minister of Mines (Mr P. C. Webb), who had entered the Hospital for observation for eye trouble on the previous day. An indication that Mr Savage continues to make good progress was the official announcement to-day that the daily bulletins were now to be discontinued in view of the fact that the Prime Minister's progress was following the normal course. The bulletin issued at 8.45 a.m. read as follows:—"The Prime Minister had a good day yesterday and a comfortable night last night. He is very bright this morning." The Lewisham Hospital authorities stated at 9.30 to-night that Mr Savage's condition continued satisfactory, and that he had had another good. day. Mr Webb had received treatment for his eye.
