CRUISER-WEIGHT TITLE HARVEY BEATS McAVOY LONDON, July 10. Len Harvey outpointed Jock McAvoy in a 15-round contest for the world’s cruiser-weight championship. Seventy thousand witnessed the bout at White City. Numbers were turned away. Queues extended a quarter of a mile. The crowd swept away the police three times, crashed through the barriers, and secured better seats. The fighting was vigorous throughout. Harvey, after clever defensive work, gained the initiative and scored with an effective straight left. MIDDLE-WEIGHT BOUT HENNEBERRY BEATS DAVIS LONDON, July 10. In a middle-weight bout at White City, the Australian, Fred Henneberry, defeated George Davis, of Netting Hill, champion of the southern area. The referee stopped the fight in the third round. PHILLIPS BEATS DOYLE KNOCK-OUT IN FIRST ROUND LONDON, July 10. The return match between Eddie Phillips and Jack Doyle resulted in Phillips knocking his opponent out in the first round.
