GUILTY OF REBELLION THIRTY YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT MADRID, July 10. Julian Besteiro was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment. A previous message stated: The former Speaker, Julian Besteiro, a Moderate Socialist leader, was courtmartialled on a charge of rebellion. The prosecutor demanded the death penalty. Sentence will be promulgated later. This is a test case, reflecting the whole position of political responsibility in Spain.
