THEATRE TELEVISION

FILM COMPANY’S BAN PROPOSALS IN BRITAIN LONDON, July 6. “ The public will probably never see its favourable film stars by television,” the managing director in London of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (Mr Sam Eckman) stated. “ None of our stars and none of our films, new or old, will be televised in any circumstances.” It is expected that other film companies will follow this lead. The former Paramount Corporation chief consulting engineer (Major C. H. Bell), in a speech at a kinema managers’ conference at Blackpool, said that television would be available for everyone in Britain within five years. The conference discussed a £6.000,000 plan to instal television in theatres all over Britain.
