WANAKA The Weather Last week a light snowfall down to lake level was experienced, but very little snow has fallen lately on the ranges. A few hard frosts have been recorded, and the days have been bright and sunny. Golf

The Ladies’ Club played a bogey match last Saturday in fine, sunny weather, the following scores being handed in:—Mrs Harris (13) 3 down. Mrs Morris, jun. (12), 5 down, Mrs Morrow (27) 5 down, Mrs Milne (ID 7 down, Mrs Ewing (12) 7 down. Mrs Perrow (18) 8 down, Miss Habner (23) 8 down, Miss Kane (27) 8 down, Mrs Scott (27) 9 down. The postponed medal > round was played on Tuesday, the following being the best scores:—Mrs Ewing 89—16 —73, Miss Scaife 92—16—76, Mrs Harris 97—17—80, Mrs Milne 96—15—81. The trophies presented by Miss Scaife for most 4’s were won by Mrs Milne (seniors) and Mrs Perrow (juniors). WAIMATE Borough Water Supply Wainiate' borough ratepayers, .will vote to-day on the proposal to raise a x loan of £16,000 for the improvement of the town’s water supply. The present system, installed 30 years ago. has now pecbme inadequate for the domestic needs of the residents and those beyond the borough boundary. It also gives g. poor pressure for fire-fighting purposes. If authorised, the loan will be applied to the provision of an additional main from the reservoir to the town and the replacing of pipes between the intake and the reservoir, which have become corroded., together with pipes in the town reticulation, which are in a similar condition. The loan will be repaid out of revenue during a period of 25 years.

Dairy Board Appointment : Mr H. H. Oswin, of Gore, who has been secretary, of the Southland and Otago Herd Testing Association for the past 15 years, has received notice of his transfer to Christchurch as secretary of the new organisation formed following the amalgamation sponsored by the Government of the 10 South Island herd-t-sting associations. The. new organisation will in future operate under the Dairy Board herd improvement plan,, carrying on the work of herd testing with the incorporation of more advanced ideas than those employed by the separate organisations. Mr Oswin has had long experience in the herd testing field. Mr G. R. Herron, of Balfdur, has been appointed chairman of directors of the new. organisation. ■ •' ;

OMAKAU. Golf During the week-end a match was played on the Omakau links with the Ranfurly Club, the visitors winning by nine matches to eight. The results (Ranfurly names first) were as follows: McLachlan lost to Charles, 4 and 3: Macdonald lost to Deaker, 3 and 2; Long beat Haig, 5 and 4; Jamieson beat Harper. 5 and 3- Gilbert beat Wallington, 5 and 3: Anderson beat Alexander, 5 and 3; Whitcombe beat Gardiner, 5 and 4; Rutherford lost to Innes, 6 and 5; Mrs Jamieson lost to Miss C. Harvey. 2 and 1; Mrs Rutherford beat Miss Beattie, 4 and 3; Mrs Macdonald beat Mrs Lucas. 4 and 3; Miss Taylor lost to Miss J. Harvey, 2 and 1. A medal round will be played on Saturday, the draw being as follows:—Harper v. Clouston, Lucas v. ‘Deaker, Gardiner v. L. Wellington, Alexander v. Butcher, Morgan v. C. Wallingtpn, Haig v.
