FEELING OF SECURITY
“BETTER OFF THAN EVER” POSITION OF DAIRY FARMER (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, July 11. "Would any member of the Opposition be prepared to vote out the guaranteed price? That is the lest, not the price, which, I know, is a debatable matter,” said Mr A, F. Moncur (Govt., Rotorua) when speaking in the Address-in-Reply debate in the House of Representatives to-night. The Government had assured the dairy farmer, he added, that, if his income was not comparable with that of other sections of industry, it would set about increasing it, “ I can show that the dairy farmer, despite a bad season this year, is better off than ever owing to the guaranteed price,” Mr Moncur said. “ Despite the criticism that has been made by members of the Opposition, I venture to say that no Government dare cancel out the guaranteed price.” Mr Moncur said the principle of the guaranteed price had come to stay. It had given the farmer stability. It had stabilised the value of farms and had given the farmer a feeling of security he had never previously experienced.
