OTAGO ASSOCIATION The Executive Committee of the Otago Hockey Association met last evening, the president (Mr T. H. Mulholland) occupying the chair. There were also present Messrs T. N. Pinder, B. Sanderson, M. C. Pair.e, L. Sew Hoy, A. C. Barnes. A. Botting, L. Marrett, N. Colvin. E. J. Rennick, K. M. Miller and W. Alexander. Postponed Matches It was reported that the condition of the' grounds had made it impossible to play matches on Saturday. Boundary Flags Mr Renwick reported that some of the new boundary flags had already gone missing. It was the responsibility of the teams to see that the flags were put away after games. It was agreed to write to clubs drawing attention to the matter. Logan Park Pavilion It was reported by an umpire that he had been put out of the pavilion at Logan Park on July 1, when the rooms used by the Hockey Association were occupied by Rugby players. The chairman said the Hockey Association was paying for the use of dressing rooms and they should be available at any time. It was decided to bring the matter before the attention of the Otago Rugby Football Union. Finance Problem The question of raising funds to cover the cost of sending teams to represent Otago at the Centennial Games next year was discussed at length. The chairman said the Otago Women's Association was also facing this problem in connection with the tournament at Wellington next May. He suggested that the two associations might co-operate. It was decided to send a deputation !o the next meeting of the Women's Association to discuss the matter Saturday's Matches Final arrangements in connection with the representative matches on Saturday were made, Mr A. C. Barnes being appointed manager of the teams to go to Timaru to plav South Canterbury and Mr W. P. Wellington as manager of the teams to play Eastern at Dunedin. It was decided that the Otago teams playing Eastern should wear white shirts instead of the customary blue jerseys. v Schoolboys' Selectors Messrs M. C. Paine, R. G. Pilling and L. Joseph were appointed a selection committee for primary schools' players. Umpires Appointed A letter was received from the Otago Hockey Umpires' Association stating that Mr E. D. Brown had been appointed to the senior game against Eastern on Saturday and Mr D. Wood and Dr Monheimer to the junior game. The appointments were approved. Southland Match The Southland Association advised that August 5 was not a suitable date for the first meeting with Otago, and suggested that Otago should go to Invercargill on July 22. The chairman said that was not a suitable date for Otago and suggested that an early fixture might be played at Invercargill on July- 29, the date of the Ranfurly Shield game. It was agreed to write to Southland putting forward this suggestion. Return Match The possibility of a return match with North Otago at Dunedin was discussed and it was decided to suggest that such a match should be arranged. The date put forward tentatively was September 16.
