OFFICIAL FORECAST SCATTERED SHOWERS PROBABLE Pressure is still high across the North Tasman Sea and northern New Zealand, while a series of westerly depressions is crossing the South Island. Indications are for: - Winds.—Between north-west and south-west, with south-westerlies later becoming mere general; moderate to strong, and rising to gale force at times about and south of Cook Strait. Seas. —New Zealand waters: Rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits and rather rough to rough on the west coast south of Kawhia, elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea; Moderate west to south west winds in the northern portion; moderate seas. Strong in the central and southern portions with rough seas Weather.—Changeable in districts with a westerly aspect, with occasional rain; mainly fair in eastern districts, but scattered showers extending later to parts of these also; temperatures becoming somewhat cooler. The maximum temperature was 64 degrees. The barometer remained above normal, registering 30.15 inches this evening. WELLINGTON, May 15. The weather to-day was fine and mild, but at times threatening. A few drops of rain fell early in the afternoon, and a squally wind, at times reaching gale force, blew from the northwest. The maximum temperature was 50.8 degrees. At 3 p.m. the barometer reading was 1010.7 millibars (29.84/ inches) CHRISTCHURCH May 15 To-day was sunny and very warm, with a light north-west breeze in the morning, which increased in force during the day.
