THE CIVIC SQUARE PROJECT

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —Your correspondents ‘ Wake Up ” and “ Eager ” display commendable vision and a practical outlook in bringing the matter of the civic square forward once more for public attention. The Government’s reply to the repeated demands of the City Council and the Otago Expansion League was certainly disheartening, but there is no reason why a concerted appeal by all those citizens with a belief in the progress of this fair city should not have the desired effect on the decision of the Government Mr R. S. Black was untiring in his efforts to obtain this civic square Surely they were not made in vain.—l am, etc.,
