BEACH CARNIVAL

ST. CLAIR EFFORT Although the weather last evening was not the most favourable for outdoor recreations, there was a fair attendance at the carnival organised at St. Clair by the local Surf Life-saving Club. The promenade was gaily lit with coloured lights, and, with the array of amusement stjalls, made a most attractive spectacle. The funds from the carnival are to be devoted to the assistance of club activities and amenities. „ The merry-go-round and the flying horses were popular centres of patronage, and the varied competitions, including the perennial hoop-las. rolldowns. skittle alleys and shooting gallery, were kept busily engaged. Various side attractions added to the pleasure of the onlookers. ... The carnival will be continued tonight and will be concluded tomorrow night. ■
