FALL FROM GRAFTON BRIDGE YOUNG MAN GRAVELY INJURED (Pee United Press Association) AUCKLAND. Jan, 13. Suffering from grave injuries, a young clerk, Colin Oldfidge, aged 19, who lives in Grafton road, was found in the gully under Grafton bridge near the eastern end early this morning. He had apparently fallen about 40 feet from the bridge on the northern side. In response to a message that there was an injured man In the gujJy a police party located Oldridge. The Injured man was taken to the Auckland Hospital, His condition is very serious. It was reported to the police that Oldridge had recently been in illhealth. His parents live at New Plymouth. MAN DROWNED IN RIVER (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 13. Mr Stanley Oswald Topp, aged 26, farm manager, of Amesbury.road, Saltwater Creek, was drowned in the Ashley River about 7.30 p,m. yesterday. Mr Topp, with his three sisters and a brother and some friends, Intended bathing in a pool about IB feet deep. His brother, Mr Arthur Herbert Topp, went Into the pool and got into difficulties, The rest of the party went to his assistance, but did not notice that Mr Stanley Topp was also .In difficulties. Mr Arthur Topp having been rescued by Miss Walshe, of Wellington, and her brother, Mr Stanley TopP s predicament was then noticed. The body was later recovered and brought ashore.
