PAPERS READ YESTERDAY ' A VARIETY OF SUBJECTS CANBERRA, Jan. 12. (Received Jan. 13, at 1.30 a.m.) At the Scientists’ Congress to-day papers were read on a variety of subjects, one of which dealt with heavy losses by plant and crop diseases. It was read by Dr W. Waterhouse, of Sydney University, who declared that the Australian losses were £ 12,000,000 a year and the New Zealand losses £ 2,000,000.
