OBITUARY
MR WILLIAM RENSHAW The death occurred recently at Dunedin, at the age of 82 years, of Mr William Renshaw, who was well known and respected in the Cromwell district about 25 years ago. Dorn County Fermanagh, Ireland, as the youngest son of the lateMrandMrs James Renshaw. he. with the other members of the family, removed to Cleator Moor. Cumberland, England, where he received his education. As a young man, Mr Renshaw departed for New Zealand, whither a sister and brother had already, preceded him. landing at Port Chalmers about the year 1880. He became interested in the gold mining industry, and successfully worked a claim on the Bannockburn for a few years, and later worked on the famous “ Hartley and Riley dredge, and also on the “ Rising bun dredge, retiring to live at Dunedin about 25 years ago. Mr Renshaw was of a retiring nature and. did not take any active part in public affairs,, but any good cause had his full sympathy and support. He was never married. His passing will be regretted by those friends of the old mining days, and by the circle of friends of his retirement. The interment took place at the,Anderson’s Bay Cemetery, the officiating clergyman being the Rev. W. A. Hamblett, of St. Matthew’s Church.
