SENTENCED TO DEATH

FRENCH SUB-LIEUTENANT BETRAYED NAVAL SECRETS (Independent Cable Service) PARIS, Jan. 11. Marc Aubert, aged 26, sub-lieu-tenant on the cruiser Vauquelin, was sentenced to death in a court martial at Toulon for betraying naval secrets to a foreign Power. Marie Jeanne Morel, aged 27, au cused of complicity, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment. The £IOO which she and Aubert allegedly received from Germanv was confiscated. It is stated that Aubert sold plans for the mobilisation of the Mediterranean fleet during the crisis for £4BO.
