THE PIG IRON DISPUTE
POSITION AT PORT KEMBLA NO SIGN OF SETTLEMENT SYDNEY, Jan. 12. (Received Jan. 13, at 0.30 a.m.) The unions involved in the Port Kembla pig-iron dispute are very dissatisfied with Mr Menzie’s visit, and threaten to extend the trouble by compelling the withdrawal of all labour from Port Kembla steelworks until an amicable settlement _is reached. A conference of union leaders will probably decide this issue by the week-end. Mr Menzies, who has gone to Newcastle, has offered to debate the dispute with union officials at Wollongong on Wednesday.
