WATER CHANGED TO RICE
One of the oldest tricks in magic aroused official British ire when it was presented recently in India by the Great Nicola, who will bring his international mysteries to His Majesty’s Theatre next Wednesday The time honoured, but still baffling feat of changing water to rice, id back again, was present 3 ’ in slightly changed form by Nicola, who adapted the feat tc the Ghandhi headlines and showed his native audiences how water could be changed into salt, and, upon approach of the British authorities, could
be switched back to water. The natives laughed when the feat was performed, but the authorities, civil and military, frowned. Law and order were being ridiculed, and the practice must cease, forthwith. So it ceased, and it was rice instead of salt thereafter that underwent the daily transmogrification.
