FAT CATTLE RATES FIRM Fat Cattle At the Burnside stock sale yesterday, 244 fat cattle were penned, as against 25U last week. Tnere was a much smaller yarding of prime heavy bullocks, the bulk of tne offering being medium weights, with a larger proportion of cows and heifers. The market opened with values for heavy weights lirmer by 10s a head. For medium bullocks and cows and heiiers there was a firm sale at late rates. Values were: Extra prime heavy bullocks, to £l9 12s 6d; prime bullocks, £l6 7s tid to £l7 7s 6a; medium bullocks, £l2 15s to £l4 7s 6d; light and unfinished, £lO 17s 6d to £ll 17s 6d; extra prime cows and heifers, to £l4 7s 6d; prime cows and heifers, £8 12s 6d to £9 12s 6d; medium cows and heifers, £7 2s 6d to £8 2s 6d; light and unfinished, £5 5s to £6 7s 6d. Prime heavy ewes were also in shorter supply. For prime heavy wethers and ewes there was an improved demand, with values firmer by Is per head, while medium weights sold at late rates. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers, to 27s 9d; prime wethers, 21s 6d to 235; medium wethers, 18s to 19s 6d; light wethers, 16s to 17s 6d; extra prime heavy ewes, to 225; prime ewes, 15s to 18s 6d; medium ewes, lis to 13s 6d: light ewes, 8s 6d to 10s 6d.
