THE RUSSIAN BALLET

’. < ; i,TO THE EDITOR - •Sif.-t-In Friday’s Daily Times appeared ,tl?e announcement, that definite plans had been made: for the visit of the Covent Garden Russian Ballet to New Zealand. To my amazement Dunedin has been excluded from the itinerary, and I should like vto know why this city has been .barred from' seeing what, is-undoubtedly the finest company, yet' to visit New Zealand. Is .it that Dunedin is unable to appreciate and support what the northern cities arid ■ “ provincial towns ” apparently can? It cannot be that there is a decline in cultural interests, but I can derive no reassurance from the fact that a circus is shortly to visit here. If the practice- of circus for Dunedin ballet for the north, is to be continued the future is a gloomy one for many people.—l am, etc.. ‘ Balletomane.
