THE AUSTRALIAN TITLE GYLES IN EIGHTH PLACE SYDNEY, Jan. 10. The Australian chess championship has been concluded. Purdy defeated Gyles in the final round, and thus shared second place with Watson. Gyles finished eighth with 5J points out of a possible 13.
