THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP AUSTRALIAN SUCCESSFUL MANILA, Jan. 8. (Received Jan, 9, at 7 p.m.) The Australian, von Nida, won the 2000 dollars Philippine open golf championship with an aggregate of 292. The Japanese players, Seisui Chin and Rokuzo Asami, tied for second place with 294. The Californian mystery man, John Montague, returned a card of 304, and the Australian, John Cremin 306. Both won minor prizes. Von Nida, who is Australia’s longest hitter, although he weighs only 9.7, shot par golf over the first three rounds. Over the last 18 he faltered to the seventh hole, being four over par.
