TRAFFIC INSPECTOR’S DEATH

FUNERAL OF MR T. A. ALLCOCK A REPRESENTATIVE ATTENDANCE (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 27. The funeral of Mr T. A. Allcock, Main Highways inspector in the Rotorua district, who was fatally injured on Saturday night while on duty on the , Rotorua-Cambridge highway, took place in Wellington this afternoon. Mr Allcock, who was aged 25, was the youngest member of the traffic staff in New Zealand.

The Transport Department was represented by the Commissioner of Transport (Mr G. L. Laurenson), the chief clerk (Mr H. B. Smith), the accountant (Mr F. A. Davis), the chief traffic inspector, head office (Mr E. H. Barnett), the chief traffic inspector, Auckland (Mr J. E. Ainsworth), and the chief traffic inspector. Wellington (Mr P. C. Watson). The Wellington Traffic Department was represented by the chief inspector (Mr F. Broughton), and other members of the staff, who escorted the coffin to St. Peter’s Church, where the service was conducted bv the vicar, the Ven. Archdeacon W. Bullock. The St. John Ambulance was represented by the assistant commissioner for the Wellington district (Mr W W. Dulton), corps superintendent (Mr F. D. Eivine), the Woman Corps superintendent (Mrs C. B, Gaby), and the woman district superintendent (Mrs G. W. Barltrop). At the church the lesson was read by the Commander of the Commandery of the Order of St. John (Mr K. A. Falconer), Members of the men’s and nursing divisions were drawn up on each side of the church door. The brief service at the graveside was conducted by Archdeacon Bullock. The pallbearers were:—Chief Traffic Inspectors Ainsworth and Watson. Traffic Inspectors D. M. Ford (Rotorua), J. Page (Wellington). C. L. Davis (Upper Hutt), and A. Futter (Porirua). Six members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade walked beside the pallbearers.
