Bonnet later explained to newspapermen that he meant not merely Corsica, Savoy, and Tunis, but every possession. The chief of the French war staff, General Gamelin, and Vice-admiral Durian will shortly tour North Africa to inspect the defences of Algeria and Morocco. THE GERMAN PRESS SUPPORT FOR ITALIAN CLAIMS LONDON, Dec. 20. (Received Dec. 21, at 1 a.m.) The Times Berlin correspondent says the German newspapers now openly support undefined Italian claims regarding Diibuti, the Suez Canal, and Tunis. They completely ignore the threats of the officiallyinspired Italian press against France and warn the French Government against taking up a position which would exclude the possibility of a “ cheap and peaceful ” agreement. Italy, it is claimed, has every right to be dissatisfied with the consequences jjf the French policy in Turn's.
